Research Stage
We know the importance of interacting with our clients, which is why we take the time to meet face-to-face to discuss your project even before we sign any contracts. We first like to listen to what you have to say, what your ideas are, and how you want your website to look & feel so we can get an idea of the size and scope of your project. Without this information, it would be terribly hard for us to give you an accurate quote. Once we understand the look and feel your trying to get, we do a bit of research to see how the functionality will come together and write up a proposal for you with the details of our game plan.
Wireframe
A wireframe is a basic sketch of the overall layout of each page. Where the content will go, the navigation links, and other important parts you need to have displayed prominently on the page will find a place in the wireframe. But, before we do that, we collect as much content from you as possible so that we know what needs to be on each page. From that we can create a sitemap showing the site hierarchy, which shows how the users flow through each page of your website. Once the sitemap is finished and we can visualize how the website will flow, we can start on a wireframe, where we place the content, navigation links, etc. on the page to visualize the basic layout, including revisions and tweaks. Once you approve our wireframe, we start up Photoshop and start with the website design.
Website Design
Once you approve the wireframes, we can start designing! But we don't start right away, first we need to get the colors just right, whether it be from your ideas or input, or your existing logo. The colors are very important, should they be off just a bit, the whole theme will be thrown off. Slowly but surely, those wireframes you approved get some color, as your ideas transform into reality right before yours eyes. Of course, during this process you can check out the progress of your website any time by logging in to our client center and sending us messages with what you think works and what doesn't.
Website Coding
Once the design is finalized, we start coding each page using Dreamweaver and a combination of XHTML & CSS to get the right look and feel. Then we add a bit of PHP, MySQL & Javascript in order to get the functionality of each page. Throughout the coding process, we thoroughly view and test each page in all browsers to make sure it looks & functions identical in all modern browsers. That way we ensure all your customers are seeing the exact same thing. Of course, we take our time to make sure everything is done correctly to deliver a quality product. Depending on the size of your project, it may take a little longer, but in the end the results will be worth it.
Testing
After the design is finished but before your site goes live, we add in all your content and test each page looking for broken links, errors, and if each page looks and feels identical in all modern browsers again just to be sure. If your website has special functionality or a Content Management System we will sit down with you and show you in detail how everything works and how things can be updated.
